A Good mother cultivates these 10 most important qualities within herself, without feeling less than others
Becoming a good mother requires that you grow into her. It doesn’t just happen by osmosis, we have to work very hard.
It’s because having the 10 most important qualities of a good mother are not natural. I kid you not, it is something you must cultivate and practice and do over and over again.
You will have to develop this within yourself if you want to be a good mom.
The 10 most important qualities of a good mother are as follows!
Loyalty is queen in a good mother- It is the first characteristic a mother must develop- This implies a faithfulness that is steadfast in the face of any temptation to renounce, desert, or betray, give up, abandon, or choose otherwise or choose others over your child.
I mention loyalty even before I mention love because sometimes love has to blossom, but loyalty will cause you to do until it does.
Newborns, toddlers, tweens, and teens, absolutely need this from their mothers. If a baby doesn’t have this kind of commitment, he will die. I am not saying it will happen physically, but definitely emotionally.
Loyalty is what makes a good mother stand by her children even if she stands to lose something or someone whom she loves romantically.
No one should come before your child, particularly when they are young and vulnerable.
Her loyalty towards her young children will propel her towards greatness, as she struggles to hold herself together during tough days and adverse situations.
A good mother is Trustworthy- her children know that she will always be there for them. They have no doubt in her strong-willed tenaciousness for them.
Every child needs someone who they feel that they can put their absolute life into their hands. You are that one, mom.
This is one of the best heart sealing qualities of the 10 most important qualities of a good mother.
You will be the faithful, trustworthy holder of your child’s heart, fears, challenges, wallet, keys, social security card, ATM cards, diplomas, college degrees…etc, etc…
They will trust you with these things, way into their adult lives. Trust me, I know because I have lived through it. I am still holding some of the above-mentioned things!
Another of the 10 most important qualities of a good mother is Communication. A good mother always talks with her children, even through their eye-rolling and teeth-sucking she speaks.
Sometimes she may yell, but that’s not very often because she has made herself very clear. Her children know her will and understand that there are sure consequences of disobedience.
This mother has no double-mindedness when it comes to expected behavior; she has no guilt when she puts barriers in place to groom her children.
She doesn’t cry from feelings of overwhelming defeat when her children fight against her, no, a good mother understands that temporary restrictions will create beautiful results in the end.
A good mother models Honesty for her children and demands that they imitate this characteristic.
I know that children have their own personalities and a good mother encourages it. But a good mother also prunes that personality with wisdom and leadership as her shears.
You won’t teach your kids to only do right when they are in someone’s view. You teach them to do right even when no one else is looking.
I remember back in my younger days, pre-motherhood when I did many dishonorable things. These actions haunt me to this very day. I can’t change them, but I can teach my children to be honest and real. A good mother does this for her children.
Being Positive is part of the 10 most important qualities of a good mother. – Now if you are envisioning a woman sitting around with a garland of flowers on her head, as she gently strokes the hair of her children, I am not talking about that.
A mother must first empower herself with the strong belief that she can do what is needed for her children. She needs to cultivate positive thoughts about her ability to care for her children.
She must embrace herself as the sole giver of love to her offspring because a mother’s love can’t be replaced.
As a child who was separated from her mother at a very young age, I suffered a ripping of my spirit. I didn’t know what was wrong with me. Deep down in my soul, I asked, “How come she let me go?”
My mother was not a good mother at all, but I wanted her, not anyone else. Simply because she was my mother, some spiritual biological chord drew me to her.
So you have to know that you are the perfect one for your child. Especially if you are a healthy, capable woman.
A good mother must learn Patience – This doesn’t mean that you won’t get upset, cry or yell. No, it takes all emotions to grow a well-prepared mother.
I just mean you have to train your responses to match the current situation. Don’t react with your instinctual quick response; children will test this in your character every day, all the time. So, for us to show them patience, teaches them that we are genuinely for them.
A good mother has pure Determination for her children to succeed in all that their little hearts desire. She gathers the necessary tools needed for her young ones to be in their best zone.
This mother knows that she is Responsible for the very lives of her children and she embraces that charge with vigor.
You see, the 10 most important qualities of a good mother are comprised of many characteristics, including.
A good mother must be a Visionary– she will have to learn how to guide her children in the way that they should go. This requires that you study your children.
It doesn’t matter whether they are in homeschool or public school, you have to walk with them and talk with.
You are the one to pick them up when they stumble through failure and hurt. You will have to visualize them through to their future selves.
A good mother does this until her child can step into his or her awaiting silhouette of their future selves.
A good mother is Inspirational, she knows her children, so she helps them to strive toward their goals.
Learn what is needed for your child to reach a milestone as they are growing up. Help them to discover what goals to set that will help get them closer to what it is they are trying to accomplish.
This is where a mother inspires her child to do the best that they can. She tells them that they can be anything that they want to be, within reason of course.
We can’t inspire our children forward, just with empty words, we will have to put action behind them. If our boy wants to be a basketball professional, then that requires commitment.
This is another one of those 10 most important qualities of a good mother you will have to develop and accept as your responsibilities.
Mom, if you are the one home with him during the day, then you will have to make sure he gets training.
He needs to play on teams, compete against other players, and many times he will need to attend sports camps.
Furthermore, you will have to be in his corner all of the time, inspiring him to go hard.
No matter how many people are out there sitting in the bleachers he is looking for your face, listening for your voice.
Many times my husband, couldn’t make games due to his job, so that meant I had to be the cheerleader.
It never failed, my sons always looked to find me in the crowd, when they made a score or when they won a swim race, or when they accomplished anything.
There I stood or sat, waving my arms like a safe haven flag, inspiring them to go hard!
My girls look to me to cheer them on as they jump off the balance beam or flip over to start the next lap of their freestyle swim race.
They cling to me for emotional support during their breakdowns and their celebrations. As mom, I have to be all of these things for my children.
It is all the same, your children will look to you for inspiration!
This last characteristic in the 10 most important qualities of a good mother is the topping for a good mom cake.
I mentioned love in the beginning but didn’t elaborate.
So, let me tell you now, when I say love, I don’t want you to think Disney nor do I want you to think love memes.
It’s much, much, more complex than that. It’s the kind of love that causes you to sit up at night, ready to capture your child’s breath if it should ever try to leave them.
This kind of love hurts your heart when your child is in distress. This kind of love makes a grown man weep like a 3-year-old girl.
Love is not just a 4 letter word that you throw around like rocks skipping across a pond.
True love is joyful, peaceful, patient, good, and faithful.
I saved this one for last because this word is used so flippantly today. As moms, we have to program our children’s thinking, when it comes to knowing what true love is.
When we love them trully, it will keep them from falling for the counterfeit.
As I discovered and developed these 10 most important qualities of a good mother in my own life, I want to encourage others to be the best mom ever!
I don’t promise that your children will always be happy with you nor do I guarantee that this kind of die-hard commitment is easy.
But I can guarantee you that your children will be sealed to your heart forever. No matter where they go or what they do, they will always treasure you.
And you, well, let’s just say that you will have the best feeling of accomplishment and honor, more than any other woman in the world.
To you, it won’t matter what anyone else thinks of you. Your children will rise up and call you blessed!
